EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer), or "rubber roofing," is a single-ply roofing system that is an excellent option for low-slope or flat roofs.
- Versatile. Rubber systems can be installed on any low-slope roof, regardless of roof deck, obstructions, foot traffic, etc.
- Won't fail due to weathering. Unlike PVC roofs, a rubber roof will not become brittle or deteriorate due to UV exposure or freezing.
- Customizable to your needs. EPDM comes in various sizes and thickness (typical thickness is .60 or .90 mil). Both reinforced and non-reinforced rubber is available, with a color choice of black or white.
- Low-fume installation. The bonding substrate (or glue) that is used to adhere the rubber to the insulation is available in several types, and is generally low-fume.
- Suitable for any environment. A low-VOC, low-fume glue is available for safe installation in sensitive areas such as schools and hospitals. There is no fire, heat or dangerous equipment associated with this system.
- Safe for high-traffic areas. Reinforced EPDM, combined with the proper placement of walk-pads, is suitable even for high-traffic roof areas.
- An energy-efficient choice. White EPDM is Energy Star® approved and can help lower cooling costs.
